Diabetes and Hearing Loss: A Connection You Shouldn’t Ignore

When we think about diabetes, we often focus on blood glucose levels, vision, heart health and circulation. However, one of the lesser-known complications of diabetes is hearing loss.

Research from Diabetes Australia shows that people living with diabetes are 2–3 times more likely to experience hearing loss than those without diabetes. Over time, high blood glucose levels may affect the tiny blood vessels and nerves that play an important role in hearing, making regular hearing checks an important part of ongoing health care.

National Diabetes Week – Hearing Health Awareness

As part of National Diabetes Week, Integrative Health Solutions is pleased to welcome Tracey from Attune Hearing to the clinic on Tuesday, 28th of July. On the day, Tracey will be available to provide education and support, answer questions about the connection between diabetes and hearing loss, and discuss the importance of early detection.

Bulk-billed hearing assessments are available year-round through Attune Hearing for eligible patients. If you have concerns about your hearing or would like to check your eligibility, please speak with our reception team. The dedicated clinic on 28 July provides an additional opportunity to meet with Tracey, learn more about hearing health, and have your hearing checked in the clinic.

To book your hearing assessment, please contact our reception team on (08) 7231 1628.
